So, like many hobby developers, I’ve been working in Unity.

Plenty of people have already had their say on the pricing changes. Unity certainly has the right to try to make money off their platform. The attempt to make retroactive changes to their TOS leaves a sour taste in my mouth, and the changes to their plan structure is just…discouraging. I wasn’t a paid customer so my opinion may not matter to them, but it all just leaves me feeling squiffy even though my game was unlikely to ever hit their magical limits anyway.

So, I’m switching over to Godot. I’m going to have to learn a bunch of things and port a bunch of things over, if I even can, which isn’t ideal for someone doing this in my free time, but even if Unity took everything back right now, it feels weird to open up my game project now.

On the bright side, this is an opportunity to sort of start over, and how often do you get those?
